Some things to be aware of about misleading practices:
Genuine Samsung batteries will charge in 1.5 hours. If a new hoverboard takes longer than that to charge then it isn't using Samsung batteries. Cheaper batteries are known to catch fire.
There are two motors - 1 for each side. Claims of 500w and 700w are adding the 2 motors together or wildly exaggerating. For comparison, a 700w electric bike can reach speeds of 50km/h. How likely is it that the manufacturer put in a motor (or 2) that can reach speeds of 50km/h and then limited the speed to 12km/h?
There are plenty of people advertising these saying that they have the safety certifications, but not one of them mention that the Australian certification is called an RCM (regulatory compliance mark). (rohs, ce, fcc are not australian certificates. msds is not a certificate at all, it' just provides information on hazardous materials)
If the item doesn't have the RCM logo which is a triangle with a tick, then it is not approved in Australia. All certifications can be proven by searching the ERAC database for model number and RCM approval number.
Don't risk serious burns or electrical shock with a cheap knockoff. The problem with the cheap knockoffs is so bad that some Australialisted sellers have been forced to recall their products as well as some major stores (18 different suppliers at the moment). Even amazon removed 97% of the listings for hoverboards on their website.
Even if you don't buy from us, make sure the person you buy from provides the details you need to search the ERAC database
